The Story
The first Red Door table was made in 2003 by Jeff Goodhart, when his father gave him an antique door he found on a jobsite in downtown St. Louis. Jeff spent countless hours stripping, sanding, staining and handcrafting the door into a farmhouse dining room table that was truly unique. He was tired. So, when it came to finishing the underside of the table, he gave it a coat of the first thing he spotted: a can of velvety red paint. The first Red Door Furniture Co. table was born…but, it wasn’t complete.

While Jeff’s new bride, Jessi, loved the refinished door dining room table, she thought it needed a little something extra to really make it stand out. So, she painted and distressed the legs a vintage white. It was with this dining room door table that she fell in love with painting furniture. And mirrors, frames, vases – pretty much anything she could get her hands on!

Today

We officially launched Red Door Furniture Co. in April 2012. It is our chance to work together and share our creativity and passion for creating home furnishings from reclaimed materials. Whether it's an afternoon spent searching for unique architectural items or a weekend refinishing an old door into a handcrafted table, we love making distinct home elements. In 2013, we expanded our services to include custom painted and refinished furniture. In 2014 we opened our brick & mortar shop and are excited to be a Certified Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint Retailer.
